How To find Clients for your business

Finding clients for your business is as unique as your business itself and a bit of strategy needs to go into finding them. Here are some quick tips to make sure you consider when trying to build your client or customer base.

  1. Target Market - Create a picture of your perfect 2 clients or customers. Think about your ideal client - what are their interests, what are their hobbies, what are their jobs, how do they spend their time. Create a list or even draw a picture. Be as specific as you can when describing them. Get in their heads - think about what they need, how you can help them and aim your target around them.

  2. Online - Building an online presence for any business is VITAL! We live in a digital world, and you need your business to become and stay relevant always. Make sure you have:

  • Website - Create a professional website that aligns to your brand and not someone else's. Make sure it is clear and showcases your services and or products. Your website should have clear ways to make contact, as well as positive reviews and testimonials.

  • SEO - A website is great, but we need to make sure that all the search engines can find you. Make sure your website is optimised so the search engines can spot you in the crowd and prioritise you in their searches. Set up a great Google and Bing Business page to make sure you pop!

  • Social Media - If it is free - we love it, jump on LinkedIn, Facebook, Tik Tok, Pinterest and Instagram and start posting. Make sure your posts are relevant, sell your brand and appeal to your target market.

  • Online Directories - You may find you need to be on a business or online directory to have more exposure. Think of where your target market is searching and if it is one of these directories - get advertising!

  1. Networking - Like the old saying - it is not what you know, it is who you know! Don't be afraid to learn new things and meet new people. Attend relevant conferences, trade shows and networking events to connect with potential clients and others in your industry. These may be in person or even in Facebook groups.

  2. Reviews - People love taking advice from other people. Word of mouth advertising is still the most valuable tool a business can use. Trust is key. Make sure you ask previous clients and customers to leave positive reviews. You can do this via your website, but Google Review is a great tool and creates great exposure.

  3. Content Marketing - Make sure you are super clear with what you can offer your target market - create videos, photos, webinars, blogs and anything you think your target market wants to see. Keep it informative and be clear on sales and offers.

  4. Email Marketing - Engage the customers you have previously worked with. If they used you once, chances are they will use you again. Keep them up to date with news, sales, special offers and valuable hints and tips with emails!

  5. Collaborations - It might not be for all businesses, but partnering with influencers, other businesses and brands might suit your business to gain potential clients. Use as many other databases as you can.

  6. Advertising - Invest in you and your business. In advertising for your business there is a huge range of choices like Google Ads, Social Media Ads, Print Media or Digital Platforms. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages so make sure you think about your target market and then get some eye capturing adverts to show them!

It is not a quick fix to find new customers, make sure you take the time to get to know your target market and what will work best for your business. Building a consistent and diversified approach to building your client base will help you grow your business over time.
